The customer, specializing in the outfitting of quarry and construction vehicles, needed a solution to offer a range of upgrades for their vehicles, targeting a more demanding clientele willing to invest in advanced features. This need arose from the necessity to remain competitive in the market and align with solutions offered by some competitors.

Case Analysis

The request analysis involved constant information exchange between the customer’s production managers and Cosmic’s technical department. The key aspects examined included:

  • Optimization of system functionality, balancing technical requirements with ease of use for operators
  • Development of an intuitive interface, allowing the entire vehicle equipment to be managed via an in-cabin display
  • Economic evaluations, ensuring an advanced system without making it excessively costly for the end customer
  • Unification of electrical systems, allowing a single system to manage three different vehicle configurations offered by the customer
Proposed Solution

Cosmic developed a prototype of an electrical system for tipper vehicles used for asphalt transport, which required:

  • Design and implementation of the entire electrical system, including software for the control unit, a customized display, and an electronic board for signal management in the cabin
  • Ease of use: the system was designed to be compatible with vehicles from different manufacturers, simplifying operators' tasks
  • Joint testing: installation and testing of the system with the customer, progressively identifying improvements and necessary upgrades
Solution Expansion

After the success of the first prototype, Cosmic extended the solution to the other two requested configurations:

  • Detachable container
  • Rear ramps for heavy equipment transport

Thanks to this development, the customer now receives a single electrical system that can be installed on all three configurations. Once mounted, the operator selects the configuration type via a touch display, and the software automatically activates the appropriate functionalities, adapting to the selected vehicle and setup.

The developed solution significantly improved the customer’s production efficiency, offering a range of high-end upgrades that met the expectations of their most demanding clientele. The implementation of a single modular system greatly simplified configuration management, reducing installation time and costs.
