The customer, Le Capitaine Italia, specializes in the outfitting of isothermal vehicles and required the integration of LED repeater lights on certain vehicle fleets. These lights needed to replicate the functions of position, stop, and turn signals on the upper part of the vehicle body, both on the left and right sides. To streamline the process, the customer wanted to simply provide the model and number of vehicles at the time of order and then receive the components and wiring ready for installation.
Case Analysis
For this type of request, an in-depth analysis is generally not required, as it is a standard integration. However, our technical department conducted a verification to ensure there had been no recent modifications by the vehicle manufacturer, such as:
- Updates to the light connector
- Changes in the internal wiring of the connector
Proposed Solution
The customer confirmed an order for 20 Iveco Eurocargo vehicles, specifying the need for extension harnesses for the lights and license plate illumination, as well as an alarm receiver in the cabin.
To meet the request, Cosmic developed the following solution:
- Selection of the optimal component:
- A compact LED light was chosen
- An ultrasonic splice was applied to create an output cable of 3.5 meters, sufficient to reach the chassis from the vehicle roof
- Pre-inserted terminals and grommets to facilitate assembly
- A connector to be attached after routing the cable through the descent tubes - Preparation of extension harnesses:
- 1000 mm extension harnesses for the side lights (left and right), equipped with a branch connector with a 4-pin terminal (position, stop, turn signal, GND) ready for connection to the upper lights
- Extension harnesses for the license plate lights, integrated into the system - Customized Kitting Service - Delivery of ready-to-use kits:
- The customer received 20 personalized boxes, each containing left and right repeater lights
- Extension harnesses for the original lights
- Branch connections for the upper lights
- Extension harnesses for the license plate lights
Results
Thanks to the solution provided by Cosmic, the customer was able to significantly simplify the installation process, reducing assembly time and costs. The ready-to-use kit allowed for faster installation without the need for additional adjustments during the process.
